MY STORY
Cookies were never part of the plan. When I was pregnant with my third child in 2015, a family member brought decorated sugar cookies to my baby shower. That is when I fell in love with cookie art! I was honestly taken back by how they not only looked good, but tasted good as well. I had no knowledge that these even existed until that moment. Fast forward to a year, and some change I accidentally came across some cookie decorator accounts on Instagram. I instantly fell in love, and always had a thought in the back of my mind saying “you can do this”. I brought up the idea several times to family, and friends, and I always received the response “no one would pay that much for cookies”. It was extremely discouraging to me, however I always found myself going back to watch cookie videos, and save pictures on my phone. After reading through various blogs, and watching lots of Julia Usher videos on YouTube, I finally decided that I was going to do this. I received my first KichenAid mixer from my mother, and it was history from there on out. I baked, and decorated my first sugar cookie on January 25th, 2017. Although my icing was running off of the cookie’s edges, I couldn’t help but feel satisfied. I knew that this is what I wanted to do at that very moment.
When I first opened ordering for Sweet Posh Cookie Co., I worked as a full-time billing specialist for a surgeon, while also taking care of my 3 small children. Balancing practically 3 jobs quickly became overwhelming, I knew it was time for a change. I decided to step down to a part-time billing specialist, so I could focus on building my business a little more. I worked 3 days a week, and regretted every hour I spent in the office, thinking about all the cookie designs I could’ve been making at home. I have always had a love for art, and creating things with my hands. I knew cookie decorating was my passion. I enjoyed it more than any other job I have ever had before. The freedom of having control over my schedule was a huge plus as well. In July 2017, with only 7 months of decorating experience I left my job to pursue my passion full-time. I was able to take on more orders, which resulted in more practice for me. There were definitely times in between where I felt that I had made the wrong decision, times where I had barely any orders, and just wanted to quit. Thankfully I kept pushing towards my goals, I became more organized, and learned what methods work best for me. Where I am at today, and all that I have accomplished, has blown me away. I love seeing, and hearing how much my customers love their cookies. In the future, I hope to to own a Cookie Studio, and teach classes, but for now
Sweet Posh Cookie Co. will remain a food cottage operation.
